(AUSTIN, TX) October 2, 2007 – The Texas Association of Builders awarded the 2007 Remodeler of the Year Award to Lucy Katz of Katz Builders, Inc. of Austin, Texas, during the Sunbelt Builders Show at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, presented by Congressman Randy Neugebauer of Lubbock. This annual award recognizes exemplary service and leadership contributions by an individual to the remodeling industry for their commitment to professional-quality construction, responsible business management, and exceptional customer and warranty service.

Lucy Katz, of Katz Builders, Inc., worked in the quality custom home industry since 1982. She holds designations as a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) with the National Association of Home Builders; Certified Personnel Consultant with the National Association of Personnel Consultants and trainer specializing in the Americans with Disability Act.
A noted author and speaker, Katz has become a nationally recognized expert on remodeling issues and has served on the local, state and national levels for numerous building trade organizations. Presently she serves as a board member of both the Texas Association of Builders and the National Association of Home Builders and has lead efforts to establish Remodelers Councils in local associations across Texas. Katz is an active member of the HBA of Greater Austin, Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA), Austin Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and was recipient of the 2006 YWCA Woman of the Year – Community Service Award. In 1995 her husband Joel Katz received the JP Sandlin Builder of the Year from the Texas Association of Builders. She and husband, Joel, live in Austin, Texas.
